MANKATO — The People’s Choice winner in the The CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour is “Guidance,” a sculpture of a cairn with branches symbolizing the different paths to take in life.

The sculpture, done by Colorado artist Deb Zelenak, will be purchased by the City Center Partnership and permanently installed in City Center North Mankato. The sculpture costs $12,950.

The work had the most public votes among the 34 pieces in this year’s tour, which was installed in May. All of the other artworks are now available for sale or lease until April.

The mission of the CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour is to create a professional year-round outdoor sculpture program in the city centers of Mankato/North Mankato. CityArt is a program of the City Center Partnership and a collaborative effort with Mankato and North Mankato.

Along with the People’s Choice winner, other awards were given Tuesday to numerous sculptures in the tour.

Plans are already under way for the 2013 tour, which will include 35 sculptures with several spots reserved for artists from the Greater Mankato area.
