North Mankato selling used equipment

The Mankato Free Press

---- — NORTH MANKATO — Looking for a snowplow and hitch? How about a one-ton truck from 1986? Or maybe 25,000 paver bricks.

North Mankato is cleaning its garage and selling its old equipment to the public.

The city is accepting sealed bids for 24 items. That means no bidding war; you put in your bid and the highest one wins, Public Works Director Brad Swanson

Some of the equipment — like a can crusher, heavy-duty mower and a 25-square-foot electronic scale — has a specialized use.

But there’s also a water heater, band saw and six regular vehicles, among other everyday items.

Oh, and those paver bricks.

Swanson said the city bought pavers for repairs to a building in Caswell Park and got extras in case more repairs or an expansion was needed.

He said the city sells equipment by sealed bid from time to time, though it hasn’t happened in several years. Swanson said he isn’t sure how much the equipment will be worth.

Prospective buyers can examine the items at the street department at 610 Webster Ave. They will have to come to the Municipal Building, at 1001 Belgrade Ave., to bid. Deadline for bids is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
