BUFFALO — Mankato East ninth-grader Ivy Glade was the only state qualifier from Mankato on Thursday at the Section 2AA cross county meet.
Glade qualified with a 13th-place time of 15:38.7. Chanhassen won the girls team title with 39 points and Marshall was second with 63. Mankato West was 10th (242) and East was 11th (264).
Tess Misgen of Shakopee was the medalist in 14:47.5. West’s top runner was Claire Attarian who placed 28th in 16:10.1. She was followed by teammates Rachel Luedtke (44th, 16:34.5), Katie Esslinger (53rd, 16:45.5), Cait Flannery (58th, 16:53.4) and Anna Freyberg (59th, 16:55.0).
Following Glade for East were Quinn Johnston (48th, 16:41.5), Jenny Johnson (51st, 16:44.4), Claire Johnston (68th, 17:20.7) and Meghan Draheim (84th, 17:52.3).
In the boys meet, Andrew Fritz and Ben Broze finished in the top 50 for Mankato West. Isaiah Barlow from Hutchinson was the medalist in 15:52.
Hutchinson won with team championship with 60 points followed by Chanhassen. Mankato West finished 12th overall (300) while Mankato East was 15th (396).
Fritz was the Scarlets’ top runner finishing 43rd in 17:53. Brozed was 49th (17:55), followed by teammates Tanner Johnson (56th, 18:21), Ben Rorem (70th, 18:33) and Jake Jancoski (73rd, 18:39).
East’s top runner was Micah Warning (55th 18:04). His twin brother Isaiah Warning was 66th (18:21), Tony Nelson was 80th (18:49), Logan Harms was 96th (19:32) and Nathan Scruggs was 99th (19:45).
The Class AA girls cross country meet begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at St. Olaf College in Northfield. The AA boys meet follows at 11 a.m., the Class A girls meet is at 1 p.m. and the Class A boys meet is at 2 p.m.
