A Henderson woman who left a Mankato apartment after an argument was found safe today, but not before she triggered a massive police search that lasted more than six hours.

More than 80 people were participating in the search for 21-year-old Cassandra Dose when someone called police at about 7:45 a.m. today to report she had returned safely to the Dublin Road townhouse where she was last seen. She had been missing since about midnight Monday.

Dose was visiting Mankato with the female friend she was arguing with, so searchers were concerned because she didn’t know anyone in the area. She also wasn’t familiar with the large ravine that runs behind Dublin Road to Thompson Ravine Road.

People at the townhouse also told searchers Dose was very intoxicated when she walked away without a coat, cell phone, money or keys to a vehicle. All of those factors, along with the fact that temperatures were below the freezing mark, added up to a concern that Dose was in danger, Mankato police Cmdr. Amy Vokal said.

After returning, Dose told police she had been in an apartment within a block of the Dublin Road townhouse the entire time.
