Wanda Nichols


— Wanda Nichols, 83 passed away on December 25, 2013 in St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.

    Wanda Lee (Zentner) Nichols was born on November 1, 1930 in Illinois.  A depression-era orphan, she was adopted by Sam and Elizabeth Zentner as a newborn and raised as an only child.  She grew up in Winnebago and graduated from Winnebago High School.  She married Harold Toppin of Winnebago in 1948 and had three sons; Ron (Cindy) Toppin of Hastings, MN; Bob (Mary Jo) Toppin of Burnsville, MN, and Rick (Katie) Toppin of Marietta, GA.  She later married George Nichols of Blue Earth in 1981 and is also survived by Georges five children; Paul Nichols of Winnebago, Ron (Barb) Nichols of Winnebago, Linda (Tonn) Herschberger of Blue Earth, Donna Nichols of Winnebago, and Laurie (Dave) Langford of Winnebago.  She is survived by a total of 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

    Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George in 2008.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth.    Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are preferred to St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center.
