Reuben "Curly" F. Voight


—   Reuben "Curly" F.  Voight, age 91, of Mankato passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Mankato.  He will be forever missed!

 He was born in Arlington, Mn, to Henry and Hannah Voight.  He fought in World War II from 1942-1945 and was the first ship at the Battle of Normandy. Upon leaving the Navy he moved to Mankato and worked at Nielsen's Greenhouse. In Mankato he met the love of his life, Loretta Ficks and they were joined in marriage August 14, 1948. They would've been married 65 years this August.  The Lord blessed them with one son, Rick.

 He was superintendent of Guaranteed Gravel and Sand Company and retired after 33 years. He was well known and respected at Guaranteed Plant. Retirement brought vacationing with his bride and enjoying life playing with his two grandchildren.

 Curly had a passion for hunting, fishing and trapping and in his younger days riding his Harley. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion.

  He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers Roland and Harold and one sister Lois.

 Those left to cherish his memory include:  wife Loretta , son Rick and Kathy, two grandchildren, Nick and Cody and many more family and friends.

  Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato.  Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday June 11, 2013, at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
