In 1940 he moved with his family to a farm by Vernon Center where he again farmed in partnership with his dad. On November 10, 1951, he married Romelia Grant. They later divorced. While farming Ken was very active in his local churches mens ministries and he was also active in politics and the National Farmers Organization. He loved John Deere tractors! Ken left farming in 1973 and with his welding skills went to work for Jones Metal Products where he was a proud member of the SMWIA Local #10 until his retirement in 1989. On July 5, 1979 he married Darcy Olson. They later divorced. Ken was always one to stay busy, he delivered the Sunday Star Tribune every Sunday morning regardless of weather for 30 years and after retirement he drove school van for the Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial School District and had his own lawn mowing business. In December 2008, Ken moved to the Trimont Health Care Center. A man of faith, Ken served as an elder in the Christian Church of Garden City and also sang in the choir. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, especially the old hymns. He was very active with the Fair Share Food Program and in 1994 was honored with the Outstanding Senior Award. Ken was very proud of his family and loved when they were all together for family celebrations. He even pulled out his harmonica and played some favorites at his 86th birthday party.
