Lyle B. Peterson

—     Lyle B. Peterson, age 94, of Janesville, died peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home of Waseca.

    Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Janesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Bescye Burnett, officiating.  Interment will be held at the Janesville Cemetery at a later date.

    Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

    Arrangements are being completed by the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville.

    Lyle Banker, the only child of Charles and Leona (Banker) Peterson, was born on March 30, 1919 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.  At a young age Lyle’s family moved to the Janesville area where he attended school and graduated from Janesville High School with the class of 1939.  Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and on December 21, 1943, was united in marriage to Ruth Barnes in Wickenburg, Arizona.  Following his honorable discharge, they moved back to Janesville where Lyle owned and operated the Janesville Auto Body Shop.  Along with owning the body shop, he taught small business at the Vo-Tech in Mankato and eventually retired from both in 1981.  Following his retirement, he became very involved in the Gem Show Circuit from 1981 through 2000.  Ruth and Lyle where longtime members of the Janesville United Methodist Church.

    He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Waseca; his children, Ralph (Michele) Peterson of Maple Grove and Gail (Butch) Cowdin of Bella Vista, AR; his four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and by other relatives and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents.
