Muriel L. Auringer



    Muriel L. Auringer, age 89, of Eagle Lake, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Lake Church of Christ with family greeting visitors one hour prior to the service. Private interment will take place at Woodland Hills Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Eagle Lake Church of Christ.

 Born May 16, 1923, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Edward and Minnie (Kind) Hoffman, Muriel attended school in Mankato, graduating from Mankato High School in 1941.  She married Wilmar "Wil" Auringer on August 29, 1942.

  A member of the Eagle Lake Church of Christ for many years, Muriel served faithfully as a deaconess and a member of the Dorcas Society there.  She was a homemaker most of her life, and for many years she also provided in-home babysitting.

  Her favorite activities included playing cards, working in puzzle books, playing solitaire on her computer, doing jigsaw puzzles, and embroidery.  She loved watching athletic events, especially when they involved her husband, children, grandchildren and close friends.  A dedicated fan of the home team, she enjoyed cheering on the Twins, Vikings, and Timberwolves. She also enjoyed traveling and vacations with her family and friends.

  Muriel is survived by three daughters, Myla Salfer of Eagle Lake; Jodi Ott of Eagle Lake; Bethann "Beth" Williams of Lake Crystal; one son, David Auringer of Madison Lake; one daughter-in-law, Darlene "Darla" Auringer of Owatonna; one son-in-law, Jerome "Jerry" Trio of Mankato; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and

nephews.

  She was preceded in death by husband, Wil; daughter, Lonnie Trio; son, Wilmar "Corky" Auringer; grandson, Thomas Auringer; son-in-law, Richard Salfer; her parents; and all of her brothers and sisters, Edward Hoffman, Harriet Rehbein, Lorraine Plumb, Ray Hoffman, Geneva Ford, Wayne Hoffman, Jerry Hoffman, and JoAnn Klaseus.
