Sister M. Julene Boeckman




   Sister M. Julene Boeckman, SSND, 90, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Good Counsel, Mankato. Her Funeral Mass is Monday, November 19, 10:30 a.m. in Good Counsel Chapel.  Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Good Counsel, with 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service, and one hour before services Monday.  Mankato Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.

  Sister Julene was born in 1922 near Jordan, MN, to Henry and Julia (Hoffmann) Boeckman.  She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1941 and professed first vows in 1944.  She spent her years in ministry as a teacher and principal in several Catholic elementary schools in Iowa, North Dakota and Minnesota.  In the Mankato area she taught at SS. Peter & Paul (1942-43 as a candidate) and St. John (1956-58), All Saints, Madison Lake (1944-48), and St. Casimir, Wells (1958-60).  She also tutored in the Good Counsel Learning Center (1994-2005).

  She is survived by a sister Delores Stocker and a brother Mark (Evelyn) Boeckman, and her sisters in community, the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
