Kenneth Dale Zernechel, Jr.

—   Kenneth Dale Zernechel, Jr. age 63, of North Mankato, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester from complications from a bacterial infection. A visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 on Sunday, June 30, at Woodland Hills Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 3:00 at Woodland Hills Chapel.

 Kenny was born in Mankato, MN, to Kenneth, Sr. and Margery (Hansen) Zernechel on October 15, 1949.  He attended Mankato schools and graduated from Mankato High School in 1968.  He received a diploma from Mankato Area Vocational Technical College.  He worked for 28 years at Cotter & Company/True Value in Mankato retiring in 2005.  He lived in Pemberton most of these years.

 Kenny was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mankato.   Over the years he also attended St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City and Grace Lutheran in Mankato.

 Kenny is survived by his brother and sister in-law Robin and Mary Zernechel of rural Mankato and their children William (sons Blaine, Layton, and Cole), Scott Zernechel and girlfriend Erikka Klugherz, and Kelly Nilson (daughters Emma and Abby).  Kenny is survived by his Aunt Beverly Wiemert of Rice Lake, Wisconsin and Aunt and Uncle Darlene and Julius Haes of Lincoln, Nebraska as well as many cousins.  Sincerely missing him will be his best friend for the past 7 years Jeanne, his card playing friends and his many other friends at Monarch Meadows Senior Living Community.  You have been his family for the past 2 years and he loved you all.  Kenny also had special friends Heather and Janet and many friends they made at Perkins and Happy Chef.

 He also is survived by his daughters Angela Zernechel and Melissa Halliwell and her husband Marcus Paar and their sons Alexxander and Aeric.

 Kenny is preceded in death by both of his parents and many aunts and uncles.

 Kenny had a knack of remembering everyones names, whether it was at Perkins, Happy Chef, Monarch Meadows or at the hospital.  Everyone that met Kenny commented on what a nice man he was.  He so enjoyed the time he spent with his nephews, niece, grandnephews and grandnieces and we loved him so.  He will always be in our hearts and will be greatly missed.  Rest in peace Kenny.
