Joyce A. Sorensen

— Joyce A. Sorensen, age 88, of Lake Crystal, died on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

 Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Debbie King Quale officiating.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-5p.m. at the Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  Burial will be at the Lake Crystal Cemetery.  Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church, VINE, or the Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center.

 Joyce was born on March 9, 1925, in Mankato to Harry and Florence (Kollmann) Duffey.  She graduated from the Lake Crystal High School in 1943.  On June 9, 1943, Joyce was united in marriage to Francis Sorensen at the Methodist Parsonage in Madelia. They farmed together for many years outside of Lake Crystal.  Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Esther-Ruth Circle.  She enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas.  She liked attending the Tulip Festival in Orange City, IA.  She also enjoyed gardening and watching the hummingbirds.

 Joyce is survived by her children, Darwin (Noel) Sorenson of Lake Crystal, Linda (Larry) Haugen of Hampton, MN, and Doug (Becky) Sorenson of Eagle Lake; grandchildren, Jared (Kristina) Sorenson, Joel Sorenson, Jennifer (Kyle) Grenz, Jon Sorenson, Martha Sorenson, Nick (Alyssa Ruch) Sorenson, Charlie Sorenson, Ashley (Danny) Schmidt, and Mitchell (Amber Jewison) Anderegg; great-grandchildren, Robbie, Rachel, Reagan, and Rinnah Sorenson, Jordan, Kaylee, and Ellyn Grenz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 Joyce was preceded in death by her husband in 2008; daughter, Lori June Anderegg in 1996; brother, Kenneth; and brother-in-law, Paul Sorensen during WWII.
