He went from there to a curriculum consultancy and then a position as dean of the college at Midland Lutheran College (Nebraska). Next he accepted a position in the Office of Institutional Research at the University of Georgia.  When he retired from UGA in 2005, he was a faculty member in the Institute for Higher Education as senior public service associate, where he taught courses in higher education.  His professional memberships included the European Higher Education Society; the Southern Association for Institutional Research, where he was a past president; and the Association for Institutional Research (AIR). He was given the Distinguished Membership Award by AIR in 2001.
