Lydia Hackbarth


— Lydia Hackbarth, age 97, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Oak Terrace in North Mankato. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Dr. Scott E. Olson, officiating. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

 Lydia Anna Marie Koenig was born July 5, 1915, in Crow Wing Co. near Aitken, MN, to Rev H.G. and Martha (Zurcher) Koenig. She was baptized in 1915 in St. Johns Lutheran Church near Aitken.  She was confirmed in 1929 in Trinity Lutheran Church of Brookfield Twp by Hector, MN.

 Lydia married William Hackbarth on December 13, 1933, in Litchfield, MN. She enjoyed flowers, playing cards, baking, hand work and she did volunteer work.  She enjoyed her family.

 She is survived by 3 daughters, Martha (Leo) Schugel, Margaret Havemeier, Doris Curtis; 5 grandchildren, Gregg Gronewald, Todd (Lily) Gronewald, Brenda (Bill) Schmidt, Julie (Doug Haefele) Havemeier and Bruce (Jenny) Havemeier; numerous great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, William, parents Rev. H.G. and Martha Koenig; 6 siblings; 2 sons-in-law.
