Ernest "Ernie" Engelsrud

—    Ernest "Ernie" Engelsrud, age 91, of Mankato, died on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Primrose.

  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Rev. John Petersen officiating.  Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

  Ernie was born on February 17, 1922 in Albert Lea to Otto and Josie (Thompson) Engelsrud.  He graduated from Mansfield, OH High School in 1940. Ernie served in the United States Navy during World War II.  On February 11, 1944 Ernie was united in marriage to Pearl Moen in Albert Lea.  He owned and operated Mankato Plating Company with his father for many years.  After retirement, Ernie and Pearl lived in Florida for many years before returning to Mankato.  Ernie was a member of the Exchange Club and the Mankato Golf Club.  He enjoyed playing cards, swimming, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family.

  Ernie is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Jim) Bennett; son, Larry (Terry) Engelsrud; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Lukens, Mary Ann Jensen, and Edith Olson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pearl, and son, David.
