Terrence 'Terry' James Best
Terrence "Terry" James Best, 67, of Nevis, MN passed into eternal life on October 2, 2013.
Terry was born on October 19, 1945 the son of Earl and Evelyn (Conly) Best in Minneapolis, MN. In 1963 he graduated from Benilde High School in St. Louis Park, MN. He attended Alexian Brothers School of Nursing in Chicago, IL and St. Francis School of Anesthesia in La Crosse, WI, graduating in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 6, 1967 and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant on January 5, 1969. He was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. He was united in marriage to Mary Forcier on July 17, 1993 in Mankato, MN.
He began his career in 1969 at St. Francis Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1971 he moved to Urbana, IL, working at Mercy Hospital. He moved to Mankato, MN in 1976 and was employed by Mankato Anesthesia Associates until 2001 when he accepted a position with R.C. Shefland Anesthesia working at Merit Care in Bemidji and Lakewood Health in Staples, MN.
He enjoyed gun collecting and shooting; model railroading; deer hunting, fishing, dancing, traveling and visiting children, grandchildren and Godchildren in Jamaica.
He was a member of the Nevis Church of Christ and Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post #212 of Park Rapids, MN. He was Commander of the Bemidji Northland Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol and served as a Medical Officer from 1999-2009.
He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Best, of Nevis, MN; Six children, Michael Best Shannon Van Amburgh, Charles Adams, Teresa Hanson, Ryan Best, Molly Best, nine grandchildren, one sister, Mary Ann Robanza and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Evelyn Best; his brother, Timothy Beebe and Beth L. Best.
Visitation will be held at Cease Chapel, Nevis MN on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 5 to 7 P.M. Funeral Services will be held October 5, 2013 at Nevis Church of Christ with Pastor Paul Bowles officiating. Time of Service: 10:00 A.M. followed by interment at Bethel Cemetery. Brian Solum of Bemidji will play "Amazing Grace" on his bagpipes. Military honors will be provided by the 934th Airlift Wing Base Honor Guard out of Minneapolis, MN. Honorary casket bearer, Gabriel Van Amburgh, and active casket bearers are Michael Best, Tony Hanson, Mark VanAmburgh, Charles and Christine Adams and Molly Best.
