Clara Hanson Pedersen


—     Clara Hanson Pedersen, 96, a resident of The Birches in Clarendon Hills, IL, formerly a resident of Realife Corp of Mankato, MN and St. Peter, MN, passed away Sept 28, 2013.  Memorial Services were held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Downers Grove, IL on Oct 5.  Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

    Clara was born May 25, 1917 to John and Petra (Bentson) Hagen in Glenwood, MN.  She was a 1935 graduate of Glenwood High School, attended Glenwood Normal Teachers Training & taught schools in Pope County for 8 yrs.  She married Sgt. Eddie Hanson on Dec. 12, 1942 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry, MN when he was serving in the World War II Armed Forces.  She & her husband managed Gamble Hardware Stores in Glenwood, Willmar and St. Peter, MN for 40 years. In St. Peter, she attended the Trinity Lutheran Church for 43 years, was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and worked at Braun's Dept. Store after retirement.  Eddie died Feb 24, 1983 and she married Charles "Al" Pedersen on Dec 2, 1989, resided at Realife Corp and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato.  Her husband was killed in an auto accident Sept 11, 1996.

    She is survived by daughter, Linda Hanson Meinhart of Downers Grove, IL, grandsons, Daniel Lee and Eric Lee, stepdaughter, Carol Pickett (Lynn) of El Paso, IL, 2 step granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, her parents, 4 sisters, Betty Tollefson, Maybelle Estrem, Margaret Schrupp, and Marie Pudil and son-in-law, Lee Meinhart.
