Ellsworth Pockrandt

— Ellsworth Pockrandt, 86, of Gibbon died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, May 31, at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with Father Jeff Horejsi celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4 - 7 pm Friday at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of Mass at church on Saturday. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 pm Friday at church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is in charge of the arrangements.   Ellsworth is survived by his wife, Regina Pockrandt of Gibbon; daughter, Mary (Greg) Boelter of Savage; son, Jim (Leah) Pockrandt of Lake Crystal; grandchildren, Jon Boelter, Luke Boelter, Paul Boelter, Isabelle Boelter, Paige Pockrandt, Brooke Pockrandt, Chance Pockrandt; sisters, Roselina Ehnes, Elvira (Virgil) Landgraff, Marilyn Black, Janette Compart, Genevieve (Robert) Schmit; brothers, Raymond (Lily) Pockrandt, Robert (Barbara) Pockrandt; and many nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Pockrandt on September 8, 1985; a sister, Phyllis; a brother, Marvin; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; and nephews.

  Ellsworth Arnold Pockrandt was born on January 1, 1928 in Gibbon to Frederick and Margarete (Wandersee) Pockrandt. He attended Gibbon public school before being drafted in to the United States Army. On October 18, 1951, Ellsworth was united in marriage to Regina Kojetin at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bechyn. Together they shared 62 wonderful years. Ellsworth worked at Wolter's Grocery Store in Gibbon, the Gibbon Ballroom, and as a custodian for Gibbon public school. He then became a rural mail carrier, a job that he held for 23 years until his retirement. Ellsworth enjoyed hobby farming with his parents and family, dancing, watching Westerns, and woodworking. He was quiet in nature but enjoyed sharing his dry sense of humor. Ellsworth was a giving, supportive and hard-working man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Ellsworth was a member of St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon.
