Patricia (Frederick) Matejcek


—  On Thursday, November 1, 2012, Patricia (Frederick) Matejcek died at her home.  Mass

of Christian Burial will be 4:00 p.m.,  Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Church of St. Joseph the Worker with Father John Wilmot as the celebrant.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the Church of St. Joseph the Worker.

  Pat was born to Bill and Wanda (Polaczyk) Frederick on Palm Sunday, April 6, 1941, early enough to be announced at the 8:00 a.m. mass at All Saints in Madison Lake as joining a family of six brothers.  Pat married James Matejcek on October 14, 1961, in Madison Lake.  As Pat would say, "they grew to become a good team". Pat spent her life loving and serving her family and all of God's people.

  Pat attended school at All Saints in Madison Lake and graduated from Good Counsel Academy of Mankato in 1959.  Education was important to Pat and she continued to read in the areas of spirituality and theology while raising her family.  She also completed courses in Befriender Ministry, Stephen Ministry, Clinical Pastoral Education, Institute of Lay Ministry, Illuninare: Ministering to Ministers Program and Together in Ministry.  Pat made good use of her structured education by ministering to many people through her life.

  Pat was a Visitation Minister, Eucharistic Minister and Religious Education teacher at the Church of St. Joseph the Worker.  She truly enjoyed and was energized by her participation in the church and with parish family.

  Recently Pat was awarded the Bishop's Medal of Honor for her 40+ years of service in the Winona Diocese.

 Pat also worked at Clements Auto Company, City of Mankato as Chief of Billing and Accounting, VINE, Faith in Action, St. Joseph the Worker Church as Custodial Assistant and Mayo Clinic Health System Pastoral Care of Mankato, where she was an Associate Chaplain.

  Pat is survived by her husband, Jim: daughters, Renee Matejcek and her daughter Rachel Tanquist, Ronda Kenyon and children Andrea and Brandon; six sons, James (Kristin) Matejcek, Nicholas (JoAnn) Matejcek and children Col, Maggie, Sam and Katherine, Peter (Kelly) Matejcek and children Ava, Finlee and Wila, Paul (Cassie) Matejcek and son Rollie, John Matejcek, and Mark Matejcek; brothers, Dr. Edward Frederick (Shirley) of Waseca, Thomas Frederick (Carol) of North Mankato, William Frederick (Sandy) of Bonita Springs, FL; sister, Helen (Dale) Rachut of North Mankato; sisters in law Anne Frederick, Sharon O'Connell and Helen (Robert) Kluntz; and brother in law William Matejcek.

  Pat is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marcel "Sal" Frederick and wife Rose, Gerald "Jerry" Frederick and wife Lorraine, Robert "Bob" Frederick and Nicholas Frederick; sister in law Betty Matejcek; brothers in law, Terry Matejcek, Don Rachut and Tom O'Connell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
