Richard Neil Miller


— Richard Neil Miller, age 60, of Madelia, MN, died on April 22, 2013, Rem-Heartland, Madelia, MN. Memorial visitation will be on Friday, April 26, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia. Interment will be at the Horicon Cemetery, near Truman at a later date. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia, Minnesota.  Richard Neil Miller was born June 6, 1952, to parents Donald Easton and Joyce Louise (Tyrrell) Miller. He lived with his family in Dunnell, MN, and Granada, MN, attending school in Granada and Fairmont. After his parents retired in 1980, they moved to Truman. In 1983 Rick was accepted into the REM home where he lived until his passing. While living on the farm, he was in charge of the lawn mowing. When they moved to Truman, he announced he was retired from that responsibility. He spent much time enjoying his long time hobby of model railroading and had an extensive layout which was enjoyed by many family members. After moving to Madelia, he joined the Railroad Club in St. James for several years. Rick worked at Brown-Nicollet Industries in New Ulm, and later at Enterprise in Madelia. He enjoyed going to movies, watching videos and DVDs, listening to music, teasing and being teased by REM staff, a good joke, and a funny movie.

 He is survived by his siblings, Bruce (Janet) of Denver, Dan (Nancy) of Indianapolis, and Donna (Mark) Smith of Mankato, nephews Anthony Miller of Indianapolis, Chris (Carly) Smith of Lake Crystal, and Michael Smith of Mankato, niece Peggie (Dustin) Ryan of Mainville, OH, 2 great nephews and a great niece. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald & Joyce.
