Elizabeth (Betty) Butzer

—  Elizabeth (Betty) Butzer, age 84, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at her home at Oak Terrace. Her loving family was at her side as she found eternal peace and comfort.

Elizabeth Gloria was born on September 25, 1928, in Aberdeen, SD, to John and Ruth Holdhusen. She was raised and educated in Ipswich, SD, and attended Macalester College in Saint Paul, MN where she met her husband, John (Jack) F. Butzer, Sr.

They raised their 12 children in Mankato, MN, and it was Betty's children that gave her great joy in life.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, her parents, two brothers, and several dear in- laws, and dear friends.

She was loved as she loved others and leaves behind many dear friends and family, which include all of her children who will miss her dearly:  John (Jackie), Karen (Phil), Belinda, Cynthia (Mike), Lisa, Bartholomew (Betsy), Elizabeth, Jane (Jeff), Joseph (Hini), Andrew (Jane), Christopher (Deb), & Alexander (Patty); 29 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Betty felt it was every persons duty in life to help others.  She did so throughout her 84 years by volunteering her time and talents with multiple organizations, notably:  MRCI, Hospice, and Kids Against Hunger.

".....Some say God sends His children here with special tasks to do, then calls them to Him, one by one, when all their work is through.....May you feel your beloved's touch when mild breezes blow to caress your cheek and softly whisper, 'I still walk with you, you know'."

-Marianne Richmond

A private memorial and burial will be scheduled at a later date.

The family requests no flowers but rather, a donation in Betty's name to the charity of your choice.
