Helen Petrovich, age 87, of Mankato, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service. Inurnment will be at Woodland Hills Columbarium.
Helen was born May 3, 1926 to William H. and Helen D. (Campbell) Erick in Madison, SD. She graduated from Spencer Iowa High School and later went on to attend the Duluth Skill Center in Duluth, MN. Helen married Verne VanEman they later divorced. She married Dan Petrovich December 7, 1974 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. Helen, along with homemaking enjoyed shopping, playing cards, knitting and crocheting but especially time spent with her family. She was a member of the Duluth American Legion and a volunteer for many years in both Duluth and Mankato areas. Her last years at Gus Johnson Plaza were filled with friends she enjoyed.
She is survived by 2 sons, Roger (Connie) VanEman of Waterville, MN and Richard (Sandra) VanEman of rural, Lake Crystal, MN; grandchildren, Michael VanEman, Angela VanEman, Trudi (Brad) Connors, Tina (Tom) Jacobson; great grandchildren, Rashad, Kendra, Cordin, Joey and Chloe; sister, Gloria Erick of Chewelah, WA; sister in-law, Janice Erick of Everly, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dan, son Russell VanEman, brother, William Erick and sister, June Duncan.
