Jerry H. Rohloff

—   JERRY H. ROHLOFF, 73, of Jackson, passed away at his residence in Apache Junction, Arizona on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.  Funeral service will be on Monday, January, 21, 2013 at 10:30am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson, Minnesota with Pastor Lance Isaacson officiating.  Burial will be following the service at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson.

  Visitation will be on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 3-5pm at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson, Minnesota and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the Church.

  Jerry Herman Rohloff was born on March 1, 1939, the son of Herman and Goldie (Sigler) Rohloff at the St. Peter Community Hospital in St. Peter, Minnesota.  He attended one-room country schools in Sibley and Le Sueur County until the 6th grade. He then attended Le Sueur High School.  Jerry was active in band and choir, graduating in May of 1956.  He went on to college at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota for one year, then transferred to Lakeland College in Plymouth, Wisconsin.  He was an active member of the Zeta Chi Fraternity, college intramural sports, the Lakeland Choir, and graduated in 1960.  He worked his way through college, working summers at the Green Giant Cannery in Le Sueur and for the college campus maintenance department during the school year.  On April 16, 1960 he was united in marriage to Sandra Canny.  In December of 1960 he began his career with S.S. Kresge Company, also known as K-mart, in the Management Training Program.  He successfully worked his way up through the ranks to become a store manager and managed several stores throughout the Midwest until 1971 when he purchased the Ben Franklin Store in Jackson.  He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson and the Church on the Mount in Apache Junction, Arizona.  Jerry was very active with the Jackson Jaycees, and Jackson Community Players.  He played softball on the Farmers Co-op team.  He loved golf, snow skiing, water skiing, and ballroom dancing.  He sponsored Jerry's Bowling Team, and a girls' softball team.  After 25 successful years, Jerry closed his Ben Franklin Store.  He then went to work for Southwest Tours driving motor coach until 2005, when he completely retired.  Jerry became a snowbird, each year spending six winter months in Mesa, Arizona.  That is where he met Lilo, the love of his life.  After a five year courtship, they got married on February 14, 2011 at the Church on the Mount in Apache Junction, Arizona.  They were very active players with Golden Vista Comedy Club, playing tennis, hiking, country dancing, singing country music, and traveling.  During the summer months he loved to spend precious time with his grandchildren and donate time entertaining at the nursing and veterans' homes singing country music.  Jerry passed away at his residence in Apache Junction, Arizona on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the age of 73 years, 10 months, and 15 days.

  Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Lilo, four children, Bret Rohloff of Eagan, Minnesota, Pamela Rohloff of Jackson, Brian (Alanna) Rohloff of Jackson, and Tracy (Jeff) Johnson of Jackson, seven grandchildren,  Ben, Annie, and Daniel Rohloff; Brandon and Morgan Halverson;  Sophie and Samuel Johnson, and one great-granddaughter, Maryjane Taylor-Halverson, two sisters, Joyce (Dick) Gardner of St. Peter, Bonnie (Mark) Mackey of Bloomington, four brothers, Larry Rohloff of Vancouver, Washington, Dennis (Jill) Rohloff of New Prague, Dale (Colleen) Rohloff of Le Sueur, and Kevin Rohloff of California.

  Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Goldie Rohloff.
