Lillian G. Pfeffer


—     Lillian G. Pfeffer, age 93 of Mapleton died peacefully in her home January 17, 2014 under the exceptional care of Mayo Clinic's Hospice program.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Mapleton with Fr. Jason Kern officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church and will continue one hour prior to the church service on Tuesday. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Mapleton. Memorials preferred to Mayo Hospice or to the Alzhiemer's Asssocation in memory of Lillian. Olson Tichenor Funeral home of Mapleton is handling services.

    Lillian Gertrude was born March 9, 1920 in Mapleton to Richard and Sarah (Carey) O`Connor. Lillian was a lifelong member of the Mapleton community. She met and then married John Pfeffer June 23, 1943 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. After supporting John's service in WWII, together, the couple took over Lillian's parent's farm; where they raised their four children. The couple worked hard on the farm and instilled these ethics into their children; whether it was walking beans or taking care of the animals. Their home was always open to their nieces and nephews. "Life is too short, so eat dessert first." Lillian's specialty was her angel food cake. She enjoyed doing handcrafts and sewing. She always had her bags packed and was ready to go travel the world with her family, whenever given the opportunity. Lillian loved her family and kept careful notes of her genealogy. She took great pride in her 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and was always there to support and love them. Even when Alzheimer's started to cloud her mind, Lillian always remembered her family and would reflect upon her genealogy.

   Lillian will be missed by her children, Tom (Chris) Pfeffer of Minnesota Lake, Mary Pfeffer of Mapleton, Jean Ann (Cal) of Red Wing and Rita (Jeff) Jones of Rochester; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family. She was welcomed into Heaven by her husband John (1996) and her parents.
