Ruth H. Nierenz, age 91 of LeCenter died on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Country Neighbors Assisted Living in LeCenter. She was born on December 10, 1921 in Ottawa Township, LeSueur County to Max and Elsie (Daehn) Fitzke. Ruth attended country school and later attended beauty college in Mankato. She married Alfred Nierenz on October 3, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in LeCenter. They lived for a short time near German Lake and Waterville until moving to LeCenter where Ruth operated Ruth's Beauty Shop for 60 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had served on the church council and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, traveling, needlepoint and embroidering.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Kucera of New Prague and 8 nieces and nephews; Phyllis (Ed) Krueger of Elysian, Joan (LeRoy) May of LeSueur, Carol (Cap) Peterson of Waseca, Curt (Genise) Boettcher of Waterville, Bob (Barb) Fitzke of Maple Grove, Tom (Connie) Fitzke of New Prague, Mary Zgonc of Lindstrom and Betty (Gene) Tupy of New Prague. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred in 1968, brothers, Gordon, Walter and Ted Fitzke and 2 sisters, Carmen Boettcher and Maxine Fitzke.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. from St. Paul Lutheran Church in LeCenter. Rev. David Aaker will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church. Kolden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
