Alice L. Skalicky

— Alice L. Skalicky, age 94 of Saint Peter, formerly of Owatonna, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Benedictine Court in Saint Peter, MN.  Alice Lucille Blilie was born July 30, 1919 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to John and Amanda (Lathrop) Blilie.  She grew up and attended school in Redwood Falls, graduating from high school there in 1937.  Following graduation, she went to beauty school, and in 1938 she moved to Blooming Prairie to work.  She bought her own beauty shop in 1944.  On January 20, 1944, she was united in marriage to George 'Judd' Skalicky in Owatonna.  After George returned home from serving his country in WWII, he and Alice owned a farm near Blooming Prairie where Alice also had her beauty shop.  Eventually the farm was sold, and a new home was built in Blooming Prairie which included a beauty shop for Alice.  In 1990, George and Alice retired to Owatonna.  During her retirement years, Alice enjoyed bowling, pool, bridge, shopping, and most of all her family.  George passed away November 19, 1991.

Survivors include her sons, Dean (Kristine) Skalicky of Silver Bay, MN and Jim (Dinah) Skalicky of Saint Peter, MN; grandchildren Tim Skalicky, Jill Skalicky, Karen (John) Sidorowicz, Brittney (Josh) Wisted, and great-grandchildren Matthew Skalicky, Naomi and Abigail Wisted, Hunter and Madden Sidorowicz, and Cameron Jensen.  She was preceded in death by her parents John and Amanda Blilie, her husband George Skalicky, and her sister Viola.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, with Rev. Loren Olson of Owatonna United Methodist Church officiating.  The Skalicky family will greet friends before the service from 12:30-2:00 p.m.  Interment will be in the Blooming Prairie Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice or recipient of donor's choice.  The family would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to the Hospice East team, and also the wonderful staff at Benedictine Court, who showed Alice such great kindness and compassion.  Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at
