Virginia Thayer Goldsmith Gish, age 94, of Le Center died Monday, June 24, 2013, at Mayo Systems Hospital in Mankato. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013, from 10 am to 11 am at the Church of Christ in Cleveland. Funeral Service will also be on Friday, June 28, 2013, at 11:00 am also at the Church of Christ in Cleveland. Burial will be at Savidge Lake Cemetery in Cleveland.
Virginia was born on May 22, 1919, in Cleveland to Elmer and Bertha (Thayer) Goldsmith. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1938. Her first job was as a saleswoman for the Beechnut Gum Co., and was united in marriage to Chris Elroy Gish on December 24, 1938, at home in Cleveland.
She was the Le Sueur County Deputy County Recorder for 25 years, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1940, the Legion Auxiliary Kitchen Band, Dorcas Circle Member and the Cleveland Historical Society. Her family members were among those who founded the Church of Christ in Cleveland in 1878.
Virginia is survived by her children; Aprille Schunk of Jordan, and Jordan Gish of Le Center, sister JoAnn (and Edward) Wintheiser of St. Louis Park, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Johna (and Greg) Anderson, Christopher Schunk, Arnie (and Jen) Gish and their children Tyler, Gideon, Abby and Samuel, and Katie Gish and her daughter Payton Lange.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Chris, parents, sisters; Hesper Bartelmehs and Jane Davis, brother Donald Goldsmith, and son-in-law John Schunk.
