Joan J. (Terrell) Silbaugh

AMBOY — ROCKFORD - Joan J. (Terrell) Silbaugh, 66, died Saturday December 21, 2013 in Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon, after a long illness with bone cancer. She was born on April 10, 1947 in Mankato, MN the daughter of Ralph D. Terrell and Margaret (Millbrath) Terrell. Joan was married in 1972 in Scranton, IA. She worked at Fingerhut, Brown Printing, and Birdseye in Minnesota. While in Illinois she worked for the Byron School District, Rockford Products, Rockford Memorial Hospital, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, and also bartended for 20 years.  She also had her own business doing electrolysis, and selling candy and caramel apples at fairs. Joan played baseball, basketball, racquetball, bowling, golf, and was an avid card player and was in a dart league. She went on road trips, and enjoyed auctions and collecting antiques. She also did photography, painting, and wood burning. Joan was a member of the Moose Lodge, White Eagle's, Eagle's Club, and volunteered for R.S.V.P.

  Joan is survived by her two children, Tina M. (Matt) Nelson of Byron and Chad L. (fianc Janet) Silbaugh of Rockford;  brothers and sisters: Fayette Misner, Penny Terrell, Ralph Terrell, Margaret Lessick, Elizabeth Terrell, Blair (fianc Shannon) Terrell, Patrick (Sue) Terrell, Judith (Robert) O'Malley, Timothy (Robin) Terrell, Christine Terrell, Jeanne (Timothy) Duke, and Maureen Terrell; seven grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Dylan, Justin, Gavyn, Lexi, and Ariana.

  She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Kay Coopman, Nephew Brian Scholtes, an infant niece, sister-in-law Carrie Terrell and brother-in-law Harry Misner.

 Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday December 28, 2013 at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday December 27 at the funeral home with a rosary service concluding the visitation at 7PM. Visitation will also be held from 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Byron. Memorials may be directed to the family.
