Carmen Irene Johnson, age 91, of Mankato, formerly of Truman, MN died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Danville Township. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 13, at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 - 7pm, and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Carmen Irene Johnson was born April 27, 1922 in Freeborn Township, Freeborn County, MN, the daughter of Arthur and Palma (Mortenson) Jordahl. Carmen was baptized in 1922 and confirmed in 1936 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freeborn, MN. She graduated from Freeborn High School, the class of 1940. On July 26, 1943, Carmen was united in marriage to Martin Putz in Manchester, MN. To this union 4 children were born. Martin died in 1974. On June 9, 1979, she married Galen Johnson, who preceded her in death in 2006. Carmen had a strong affirmation of her faith. She enjoyed visiting and gathering with family and friends.
Carmen is survived by her children: Larry (Geri) Putz of Brooten, MN, Paulette (Larry) Lotton of Mankato, Howard (Sue) Putz of St. Peter, MN; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Eunice Twiss, Dorothy Schmidt, Lavonne Johnson; 2 brothers: Donald Jordahl and Arthur Jordahl.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Martin and Galen; daughter Gretchen (Robert) Hartman.
