Ellis Weathers


—  Ellis Weathers, 89, of Orleans, died late Wednesday evening at his home.

 Ellis was born June 4, 1923, in Petersburg, Indiana, the son of Ellis, Sr., and Nellis Sullivan Weathers.

 He was retired as a dispatcher for Getty Oil in Minneapolis, Minn. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.  He was a member of the Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church, West Baden Springs, Indiana and the  Bethel Masonic Lodge #103, Lake Crystal, Minnesota, and the American Legion Warren Brock Post #69, Orleans.

 He married Roberta Jean Weathers on January 7, 1945, and she died July 21, 2004.

  He is survived by five sons, Doug Weathers of Orleans, Gary Weathers of Orleans, John Earl Weathers of Mohall, North Dakota, Hugh Morgan Garrett of Seatle, Washington and Don Garrett of Rose Mount, Minnesota.  There are two daughters, Cynthia Osier of Fergus Falls, Minnesota and Judy Ellen VanBrunt of Apple Valley, Minnesota also, a daughter in law, Peggy Weathers of Phoenix, Arizona.  There are thirty eight grandchildren and forty seven great grandchildren.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son, Ronald Weathers.

 The funeral will be on Wednesday, March 20, at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery with military rites by the Orleans American Legion, Warren Brock Post #69.  Friends are welcome to visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the services at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
