Thomas C. Giese, age 71 of North Mankato, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7:30 p.m., Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday all at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The family preferred memorials are DAV, North Mankato American Legion Post 518 or the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Thomas Carl Giese was born October 11, 1942 to Carl and Iverna (Potz) Giese in Mankato, Minnesota. He attended Loyola High School and Mankato Area Technical College. Tom served his country in the US Navy from 1960 - 1964. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Menk on April 16, 1966 in Madison Lake, Minnesota. Tom was self-employed with his plumbing company in the Mankato/North Mankato area for over 30 years.
Tom was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, American Legion Post # 518, and DAV where he was its commander from 2002-2005. In his free time Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, telling stories and coffee with his buddies.
Tom is survived by his wife Charlotte of North Mankato; son, Anthony Giese of North Mankato; daughter, Karen Giese of Portland, OR; sister, Debi Cumming of Mankato; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister and her husband, Mary Lou and Roger Madigan.
