Donald Roy Chasteen, 95, of North Mankato, died April 2, 2013, at Pathstone Living. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 6, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Pathstone Living. Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Donald was born April 18, 1917, to John and Minnie (Perkel) Chasteen in Judson. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1936. On December 2, 1942, he was united in marriage to Irene Laase in Seattle, Washington. Donald served in the United States Army from 1942-46. He worked for Gamble Robinson, Hiniker Sand & Gravel, and Kato Engineering. He was known for his talent with woodworking hand crafts, mechanical repair, and general fix it projects around home and for others. He could "Chasteenize" just about anything that needed fixing. He enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings. He also enjoyed getting together with friends for coffee regularly.
He is survived by son, Gerald (Carolyn) Chasteen of Birchwood, WI; daughters, Sharon Ryan of Phoenix, AZ and Linda Chasteen of North Mankato; grandchildren, Christopher Chasteen, Lucas Chasteen, and Staci (Orlando) Ryan - Ayala; great grandchildren, Tina and Ivan Ayala: and several nieces and nephews.
Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Irene; parents; sister, Aileen Johnson; brother, Roland Chasteen, and son in-law, Don Ryan.
