Aaron Immanuel Romberg, age 84, of Mankato died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Oaklawn Healthcare Center in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Fr. Peter Nosbush officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is assisting with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in Aaron's memory to Vine Faith in Action or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Aaron Immanuel was born June 9, 1928, in Sleepy Eye to Henry and Martha (Grundmeyer) Romberg. He graduated from New Ulm High School and attended South Dakota State College in Brookings, South Dakota for one year.
During the Korean Conflict he was stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama and served as a regimental Supply Sergeant for Service Company of the 135th Regiment. While at Fort Rucker he married Shirley Forster on March 14, 1951.
Aaron was employed by Blilie Distributing Company of Mankato for 32 years as a salesman, traveling Southern Minnesota, and by MRCI as a line supervisor in production for 8 years before his retirement in June of 1993.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, dancing and spending time with his family. Aaron was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 50 years and was also a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley Romberg of Mankato; children: Paul (Mary) Romberg of Rochester, MN, Ann (Doug) Williams of Morris, MN, and John (Tammy) Romberg of North Mankato; grandchildren: Ben Romberg of Rochester, MN, Ted Williams of Fargo, ND, Tracy Williams of Fergus Falls, MN, Tara Williams of Morris, MN, and Bret Romberg of North Mankato; other extended family and many friends.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Marvin and Darwin.
