Clayton P. Norell

—   Clayton P. Norell, age 85, of Darfur, died on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at St. John's Nursing Home in Springfield, MN.  

  Memorial service Monday, January 21, 2013, at 11:00 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur.  A visitation will be held from 2-5 pm on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the Darfur City Hall and 1 hour prior to the memorial service on Monday at the church.

  Clayton was born on September 23, 1927, in Springfield, MN.  He was the son of Martin and Ellen (Finstad) Norell. He attended Comfrey area schools through the 10th grade. But made sure all eight of his kids obtained post secondary education. He was employed  in construction and was a truck driver for over 40 years for Sawatzky,  Klassen and Elness trucking.

He was united in marriage on February 10, 1949, to Georgia Ann Miller of Ellsworth, MN.

  He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 60+ years.  He was an avid MN Twins and MN Vikings fan.  He enjoyed reading, watching sports, hunting, fishing, and loved going on trail rides with Bruce, attending school activities, gardening and especially enjoyed having coffee with the Darfur Coffee Club.  He was a past member of the church council, cemetery board, and sportsman's club.

  Clayton is survived by his wife, Georgia of Darfur; daughters: Lynnae (Steven) Anderson of Edina, MN; Andrea (Lyle) Blom of Mt. Lake, MN; Karen Norell of Granite Falls, MN; Marian Norell of Waseca, MN; sons:  Duane (Carmen) Norell of Columbia, SC; Dale (Deb Lien) Norell of Rochester, MN; Jeffrey (Colleen) Norell of Owatonna, MN; grandchildren:  Keith and Bryan Anderson; Robert and Gary Blom, Aaron and Ana Norell; Ryan and Kaitlyn Norell, Grant Norell, Gina and Christy Perez; Mariah Norell; Adam and Addie Haler. He is  also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Ethan, Allison, Rayna, Eric, Ethan, Eli, Alex, Kaila, Evan, Camille, Reggie, Brett, Jake and Ella.

  He is also survived by his twin brother, Clifford of Sacred Heart, MN, and his sister, Ellen Mae Amsden of Springfield.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and godson, Peter Norell.

  Clayton` was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Norell, and great-grandson, Ben.
