Charles Thomas Hughes


—  Charles Thomas Hughes was born January 9th, 1947, in Mankato, MN, to Merle and Colleen (nee Brown) Hughes.

  He grew up on a farm outside of Vernon Center, MN, and attended Vernon Center Elementary School and later high school at Lake Crystal, MN.

  He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1966 and served as a jet helicopter mechanic and as part of the helicopter flight crew. He served a tour of duty in Da Nang Vietnam from 1967 to 1968.

 On December 21, 1968, Chuck married Karen Hanel at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. The couple moved to Orange County, California where Chuck was assigned to the USMC Helicopter base located in Tustin, Ca. Upon his discharge from active duty, Chuck trained and became a journeyman meat cutter.

  The couple purchased their first business in 1977 which was a gourmet meat and catering business in Anaheim, Ca.

 Chuck later became a wholesale meat supplier working out of their home in Orange, Ca and serving customers in the LA and Orange county areas.

   In 1988 the couple decided to make the move to Northern California and purchased land located in Cool, Ca where they built their current home.

   Funeral Services were held Saturday, February 16, at Hope Lutheran Church in Penryn, California.  Pastor Jon Kehren officiated.

  Chuck is survived by his wife Karen, of Cool, Ca, brother John Hughes of Mankato, Mn, and many family members and friends.
