Sister Patricia (M. Carmeline) Sonnek, SSND


—     Sister Patricia (M. Carmeline) Sonnek, SSND, 76, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Good Counsel, Mankato. Her Funeral Mass is Thursday, September 26, 10:30 a.m. in Good Counsel Chapel.  Visitation is 5-7 p.m. TODAY at Good Counsel, with 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service, and one hour before services Thursday.  Mankato Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.

    Sister Patricia was born in 1937 near Easton, MN, to Matthew and Mary (Schimek) Sonnek.  She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in 1955 and entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame that same year.  Following profession of vows in 1957 she taught in several Catholic elementary schools. She became an LPN in 1972 and worked in Good Counsel Healthcare and for various health services in St. Paul and Rochester. She was also an avid quilter and crafter.

    She is survived by 5 sisters: Mary Detke, Ida Arnold, Kay (Wayne) Nacey, Carmel (Pierre) Leblanc, and Eileen (Ben) Youngblood; 2 brothers: Bill (Helen); and Tom (Mary); and a sister-in-law Barb Dvorak.  She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Roland, Duane and Kenneth.
