Myron Becker, 88, of rural Nicollet died Wednesday, November 06, 2013, at Pheasants Ridge in St. Peter. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Pastor Bob Iverson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday. Myron is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Robert Jovonovich of Maplewood, Rita and Dave Scheff of St. Peter, Suzanne Becker of St. Paul; son, Frederick Becker of rural Nicollet; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Donald Madsen, Marilyn and Joe Dwyer, and Diane Pipping, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arline Becker on September 22, 2008, and brother, Kenneth.
Myron Fred Becker was born on February 16, 1925, in Mankato to Fred and Rosina (Dallmann) Becker. Myron attended Nicollet Public School. On July 16, 1946, Myron was united in marriage to Arline Westphal at the Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter. Myron and Arline began farming in Oshawa Township, Nicollet County until October of 1958 when they moved to a farm in Granby Township, Nicollet County. They farmed until retirement in 1991, and remained on the farm. Farming and animals were Myron's life. He loved to play cards, fish, dance, listen to Old Time Music, and tease the grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or to the donor's choice.
