Irma (Maas) Summers

—   Irma (Maas) Summers, 91, of North Mankato died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

  Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, May 19, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with Pastor Ronald Siemers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at church on Saturday.

  The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet is handling the arrangements.

  Irma Hulda Rosin was born November 26, 1920 in Hoffman, to Edward and Marie (Truebenbach) Rosin. She attended school in rural Nicollet; Irma was united in marriage to Gabriel Maas on June 4, 1940 in Nicollet. After marriage they farmed in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County.

  After the death of her husband, Irma moved to North Mankato where she was employed at South Central Technical College until her retirement. She was also united in marriage to Donald Summers on July 12, 1991 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Irma enjoyed baking angel food cakes, bingo, playing cards and also dancing and listening to old time music.

  She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet and the Ladies Aid at church.

  Irma is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and David Prom, Myra and Dennis Sohre, all of Good Thunder; a son-in-law, Roger Bruns of North Mankato; step-children, Steve and Vivian Summers of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Lori Gosselin of Claredon, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Alice and Lester Schlaack of Waseca, Gloria Oachs of Mankato; brothers and sister-in-law, Elmer Rosin, Roger and Janet Rosin, all of Nicollet; and by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rosin of Nicollet.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gabriel Maas in March ,1976; second husband, Donald Summers in April, 2006; daughters, Lois Bruns in September, 2000 and Elaine Maas in infancy; a grandson, Kyle Prom; and by a brother, Marvin Rosin.
