Lester T. Weller, age 66, of Lake Jefferson, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Laurel's Edge in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon, Monday, October 14, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marysburg. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Sunday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marysburg and will continue one hour before service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Mankato Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
Lester was born January 24, 1947 to Lester J. and Marcella (Niedecker) Weller in New Ulm. His family lived in New Ulm, Springfield, Northfield, and Mankato. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1964, serving 4 years on the USS Ticonderoga. After discharge from the Navy, Sonny returned to Mankato and worked for Continental Can until 1976. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Koskovich on September 14, 1968 in Blue Earth, MN. They raised two sons on Lake Jefferson, where they lived for 41 years. He began working for ADM in 1977, where he retired from in 2005 as a maintenance superintendent. Sonny enjoyed and was so proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He was also known to all as a master tinkerer! He could build or fix anything. He loved anything with a motor, especially his classic cars. He was a man of many toys!
Sonny is survived by his wife, Mary of Mankato; two sons, Jason (Jodi) of Madison Lake and Jeremy of Shakopee; grandchildren, Jacob, Joie, and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Laynee and Lily; Sonny and Marys dog, Annie; grand dog, Axl; four brothers, Donald (Eileen), Al (Mary) and Denny all of Mankato, Peter (Kaysie) of Waterville; three sisters, Ann Malecha of Des Moines, IA, Rosie (Bud) Allen of Eagle Lake, and Carol (Ken) Schlender of Lindstrom; numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents.
Sonny will be remembered by all and the memories will keep us laughing!
