Jerry O'Connors Rollings, age 66, of Garden City died Friday, August 30, 2013, at his home following a courageous 4 year battle with cancer.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Steve Bohling and Rev. Debbie King Quale officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, LCWM Athletic Booster Club, or the donors choice. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Jerry was born August 14, 1947, to Verl and Inez (O'Connors) Rollings in Mankato. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1965 and then the University of Minnesota with a degree in Ag Education in 1969. He was united in marriage to Renee Derner on June 11, 1976, in Cleveland. Jerry was employed as an Agriculture teacher at Amboy High School from 1969-1976, Farmland Industries in Mankato for over 20 years, Economic Development for the City of Lake Crystal, and most recently MinnStar Bank. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Jerry coached girls fast pitch softball in Lake Crystal and helped start the LCWM Athletic Booster Club. Being an avid sports fan, Jerry enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and taking his annual Canadian fishing trips.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Renee of Garden City; three children, Jeff (Krissan) Rollings of Waconia, Scott (Anna) Rollings of Mapleton, and Leesa (Seth) Gilman of Garden City; six grandchildren, Halle, Aiden, Liam, Ivy, Maya, and Grady; brother, John (Connie) Rollings of Vernon Center; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
