JoAnn K. Helling, age 85 of rural Le Sueur, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Horizon Place in Le Center. Visitation will be held at the Le Center Funeral Home on Monday, July 15, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elim Welsh Cemetery in rural Le Sueur.
JoAnn was born on December 27, 1927, in Mankato to Morgan and Lucy (Hardegger) Lloyd. She was a Cleveland High School graduate and also attended Mankato State and Mankato Community College. She was united in marriage to Millerd Helling in St Peter on August 21, 1950. She worked at ASCS (Farm Service Agency) in Le Center and then St. Peter as a program assistant for 35 years.
She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Thrift Store, enjoyed card playing, watching Twins and Timberwolves games, gardening raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
JoAnn is survived by her children; Bonnie (and Don) Reak of Le Center, Kathy (and Tim) O'Keefe of Chanhassen, John (and Fiance Lori O'Keefe) of Montgomery, Nancy (and Rusty) Tiede of Le Center and Mark Helling of Cleveland, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law Arden Helling of Mentor, Minnesota.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Millerd Helling, son James, grandson, Matthew Helling, sister, Sally Michels and brother, John Lloyd and many brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law.
