Merle Warner

— Merle Warner, age 86, of New Prague, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital New Prague. Merle was born December 24, 1926, in Lake Crystal, MN, to Samuel and Pearl (Evans) Warner.  He attended Lake Crystal Public Schools and furthered his education in mechanics training in Mankato.  Merle served in the US Army from 1945 - 1946.  He married Joan Ward in Mankato on January 28, 1950. Merle worked at Miller Motors in Mankato and then became a dairy farmer and farmed for 59 years.  He is a member of the American Legion and member and past president of DHIA (Dairy Herd Improvement Association).  Merle enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing cards.

 Merle is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Cheryl (& Joe) Henning of Clarence Center, NY, Steve (& special friend, Diane Enstad) of Waterville, Susann (& Tom) Miller of Morristown, Kenneth (& Kim) of Faribault, Merle, Jr. (& Kari) of Waterville, Randy (& Cheryl) of New Prague, Lori (& Greg) Hartmann of New Prague, Kristin (& Earnest) King of Stafford, VA, Jodi (& Jeff) Wagner of Sauk Rapids; sisters, Margaret "Sis" Nonnemacher of New Ulm, Inie Spidahl of Madelia; sister-in-law, Myrtle Warner of Madelia; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Lance Warner; brothers, Warren, Harold, Lyle, and Howard.

 Services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 10:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague with Reverend Jim Sawtelle officiating.  Serving as pallbearers will be his sons, Steve, Kenneth, Merle Jr., and Randy Warner and grandsons, Adam Hartmann and Erick Warner.  Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 - 8  PM and Thursday from 7:30 - 10:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial will occur at Minneopa Cemetery in Mankato, MN, after the lunch at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague. Military rites will be conducted.
