Darrell W. Lewis, age 78, of Lake Crystal, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Cambria Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Association or the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice.
Darrell was born on January 26, 1934, in Lake Crystal to Art and Dolly (Stenerson) Lewis. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School. On March 14, 1953, Darrell was united in marriage to LaVola Walters in Judson. He worked for Crystal Co-op and the Blue Earth County Highway Department for 22 years. Darrell was an all around handyman, he could fix anything. He was a charter member of Ducks Unlimited and was a Melvin Jones recipient for the Lions Club. Darrell was also a deacon for the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal.
Darrell is survived by his wife, LaVola; two daughters, Darla (John) Marsden and Cindy (Keevin) Milbrett; son, Doug (Donna) Lewis; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gordy, Dean, Dale, and Danny; sister, Marlene; and parents-in-law, Earl and Laura Walters.
