Myron Orel Olson, age 85, of Madelia, MN, died on May 8, 2013, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia, MN. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 12, 2013, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia and will continue on Monday from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at the Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia. Service will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia, on Monday, May 13, 2013, at 10:00 am. The clergy will be Pastor Salim Kaderbhai. Interment will be at the Butternut Valley Cemetery in Butternut, MN. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia, MN. On line condolences may be left for the family at

Myron Orel Olson was born on July 20, 1927, in Mankato, MN, the son of Oscar and Matilda (Mikkelson) Olson. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Anderson on August 7, 1948. The couple lived in Albert Lea, St. Louis Park, and St. Clair, MN where he drove bus and enjoyed being a charter bus, over the road and school bus driver. Following Bonnie's death Myron lived in Butternut. He was united in marriage to Betty Thormodson on May 21, 1999 and moved to Madelia and retired from driving at the age of 80 years. Myron enjoyed traveling, wintering in Texas and the summer cabin in northern Minnesota, dancing, camping, Polka Music, and always was involved with a "handy man" project. He enjoyed attending Threshing Days and Pioneer Power. Myron was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia. He loved his time with family, friends, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife - Betty Olson of Madelia; son - Doug (Connie) Olson of St. Clair, MN, step sons - Verle Thormodson and John (Brenda) Thormodson both of Madelia; grandchildren - Jana and Jason Thormodson; a brother - Oscar (Dorothy) Olson of Madelia; sisters-in-law - LaVonne Olson of Madelia, Ruth Olson of Madelia, and Jean (Alfred) Rabenhorst of Weslaco, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife - Bonnie in 1997; and brothers - John, Orlando, and Lawrence Olson.
