Nadine Anne (Smith) Borresen


—   Nadine Anne (Smith) Borresen, 89, Mankato, died peacefully surrounded by her family Friday, July 19, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato.  Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday July 24, 2013 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel with Rev. Hilton Hammer officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Humane Society or the American Heart Association.

  Nadine was born August 11, 1923 to George and Veronica (Wagner) Smith in Tyler, MN.  She graduated from Lake Benton High School.  Nadine was united in marriage to Axel E. Borresen November 17, 1946 at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler.  During their years in Comfrey, she and Axel owned and operated the Comfrey Theater for seven years and Borresen Clothing for 33 years.  Nadine loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle, reading books, and watching birds at her feeders.  She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow up and attended many of their activities.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato.

  She is survived by son, Bradley (Sharon) Borresen of Mankato; daughter, Deborah (John) Doescher of Mitchell, SD; granddaughters, Lindsey (Chad) Koterba of Minnetonka and Erica Borresen of Fort Collins, CO; great granddaughters, Addison and Brynn Koterba of Minnetonka; brother, Larry Wagner of Sacramento, CA; sister, Beverly (Bob) Neale of Sauk Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

  Nadine is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, George and Ken; and sisters, Vivian, Hazel, Valda, Audrey, and Joyce.
