Larry Wayne Johnson


—  Larry Wayne Johnson, 70, of Mankato, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato.  Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday (TODAY) July 23, 2013, at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato with Rev. Dan Horn, officiating.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

 Larry was born April 4, 1943, in Windom, MN, to Lloyd and Dorothy (Sigstad) Johnson. He grew up and graduated from high school in Windom where he was a star athlete in basketball.  Larry worked at Lampert Yards for 15 years in Windom and was manager for a number of years.  He served as an EMT and was on the fire department rescue squad for 12 years.  He was in the National Guard for 6 years and graduated from officer's candidate school. After moving to Mankato he opened Farm and Home Lumber and ran that for several years and in 1990 opened Johnson's Sports Cards and Collectables which he operated for 9 years.  He has worked from 2002 to the present selling metal buildings for Pro Build/UBC Mankato. Larry was a Shriner and a member of the Prudence Lodge in Windom and the Zuhrah Shrine.

  He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Kris Lindblom; granddaughters, Jessica and Sarah Lindblom; sister, Trudi (Henry) Schmidt; niece, Danielle Stockinger; nephew, Troy Schmidt; 2 great nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

 Larry will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his kindness and his honorable life.
