Dorothy L. Duffey

—   On Thursday, April 25, 2013 Dorothy Lucille (Dackins) Duffey, a life-long resident of Lake Crystal area, passed away at Autumn Grace Assisted Living, Mankato, MN. Dorothy was 92 years old.

  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato.

  Dorothy was born on February 25, 1921 in Judson Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Dorothy was the oldest of four daughters born to David and Margaret (Jones) Dackins. She attended the Carmel Grade School and Lake Crystal High School. On June 21, 1941 Dorothy married Kenneth Duffey at the Centenary Methodist Church parsonage, Mankato, MN. She and Ken were partners in farming until his sudden death in 1967 at age forty five.  After Kens death, Dorothy took over the farming responsibilities until her two young sons were old enough to take the reins.

  Over the years Dorothy was active in the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal, where she served as both an elder and deacon, she was a member of Loon Lake Extension Club, and was a volunteer at Natural Surroundings Adult Day Care. Dorothy was devoted to her family and she enjoyed gardening, baking, entertaining at family gatherings, and singing at the yearly Gymanfa Ganu at the First Presbyterian Church in Mankato. Dorothy was there for her family whenever they needed her. Dorothys family and future generations of her family are blessed to have had her in their lives now and forever more.

  Dorothy is survived by her five children: Darlene Trujillo of Jackson, Wyoming, Gloria (Donald) Adermann of North Mankato, Nancy (Theo) Black of Wayzata, Duane Duffey (Jeff Loken) of Savage, and Dean (Pauline) Duffey of Lake Crystal; and family member, Margaret Duffey; her thirteen grandchildren, Kara McCormick (Eric Borgeson), Patrick Trujillo (Martina Hansen), Lana Adermann, Travis Adermann, Laura (Scott) Butler, Heather (Brad) Bass, Laura Black, Sarah Duffey (Todd Smith), John Duffey, William Duffey (Colleen Williams), Andy (Danielle) Duffey, Melissa (Cole) Nelson, Alex Duffey (Tiffany Marshall); fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Marian (Harold) Thomas of Hanska;  many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, David and Margaret Dackins; her husband, Kenneth; two sisters, Elizabeth Riewe and Elaine Skramstad; father and mother-in-law, Harry and Florence Duffey; sister-in-law, Joyce Sorenson; son-in-law, Jose Trujillo; infant granddaughter, Grace Ackland; many cousins, uncles, aunts, and close friends.
