Janice (Norum) Knutson

—   Janice Knutson, age 76, of North Mankato and Nevis, MN, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at home with hospice surrounded by her family. Memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in the High School at Nevis, MN on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 2:00pm with Pastor AJ Kluver, officiating.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato & Waseca Hospice Programs or Peace Lutheran Church of Nevis, MN.

 Janice Marie was born June 17, 1936, in Bismark, ND, to Phillip Arthur and Marjorie (Bergland) Norum. She graduated from Harvey High School in Harvey, ND, in 1954.  She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, for two years of pre-nursing and graduated from the University of Minnesota's School of Nursing in March 1959. Janice married Paul Luther Knutson on September 8th, 1957 in Harvey, ND.  Their marriage was blessed with three children: Jane, Mark and John.  

 Janice enjoyed working with high school youth, involving church youth groups, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Jan loved to craft, sew, and play the flute.  One of Jan's greatest joys in life was bringing comfort to those in need.  She used her skills in caring for people to help develop the first hospice program in the Waseca are in 1985.  Jan was also a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church (LCMC) at Nevis, MN.

 Janice is survived by her husband, Paul of Nevis, MN; daughter, Jane (Anthony) Paccione of Waccabuc, NY, son, Mark Knutson of North Mankato, MN, and son, John (Amy) Knutson of Mpls, MN; five grandchildren, Emily and Jack Paccione, Myles and Alex Knutson, and Nick Knutson; her sister, Mary (Jim) Edmister; her brother, Rich Norum;  and her sister-in-law, Solveig (Wayne) Elton.

 Janice was preceded in death by her parents.
