Lester Carroll Huber

—  Lester Carroll Huber, age 83, of Waseca, died on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Lakeshore Inn in Waseca following a lengthy battle with Parkinsons.

Born in Waseca on January 15, 1930, Lester was the son of Nick and Mabel (Johnson) Huber.  He was baptized and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.  As a young man he attended country school in rural Waseca County.  He entered the United States Army in April of 1951 and served in the Korean War with the Aviation Engineers until 1952.  On November 8, 1951, while at home on furlough, Lester married Delores Pagel at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Following his honorable discharge, Lester began farming on the Pagel farm.  He continued his work there until moving to the Huber farm in 1959.  Over the years he also worked as a carpenter for Rollie Roesler Construction, owned and operated H&K Construction, worked as a plumber at the University of Minnesota in Waseca, and finally worked as a grounds supervisor for the Waseca County Fair for several years.  Lester enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a lifetime member of the Waseca VFW, and served on the church council and other various boards at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca.

Lester is survived by his wife Delores of Waseca; his son Larry (LuAnne) Huber of Waseca; and three grandsons, Travis, Tyler, and Terry Huber of Waseca.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; one daughter, Linda Weisjahn and her husband Jim; one granddaughter, Toni Huber; and one sister, Sylvia Nelson.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. John Omans officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
