Valdeen Dorothy Anderson

— Valdeen Dorothy Anderson formerly of North Mankato MN, passed away at the age of 80 on August 4, 2013 at the Doctor's Hospice of Georgia in Fayetteville GA.

She was born into this world on October 21, 1932, one of 15 children born to Charles and Erna Ebel in Lidgerwood, ND. On her 16th birthday, she caught

the eye of a handsome young man from Sisseton SD, Perry Anderson.  The young couple married on August 22nd, 1950 and from that day forward built a life filled with dancing, travel, laughter and love.

The family moved to North Mankato MN in 1963.  She was employed at Mankato Corporation for 30 years.  Over those many years, friendships were formed, lives bonded and family milestones shared. She enjoyed participating in league bowling and soon after retiring also took up golf.

Perry and Valdeen travelled many miles together and had grand adventures. Memorable trips to Alaska where she spent hours picking berries with her daughters and grandchildren or fishing on the bank of a river for fresh salmon for dinner. They had the joy of spending many Christmases in Atlanta with their son and his family.  While there she would visit her grandchildrens elementary class and bake dozens and dozens of gingerbread cookies with the class, taking time to ensure each child had a festive cookie to take home to share for the holiday. For the last 20 years  they wintered in Mesa AZ in "The Park".  Not surprisingly, they met and were blessed with many new friends over those years.

She loved her flower garden and not just for the colorful blooms.  It was the sparkle of sunlight that would catch an edge of a garden angel, or the arrival of baby birds in one of her birdhouses.  It was the sigh of an evening breeze catching laundry on the line and a neighbors wave Hello.  It was the moments, with a cup of coffee, when she and Perry would sit on the back deck and talk, about everything and nothing. Thats what made the garden special.

She was  curious, active and energetic. Valdeens wit was quick; her eyes would start to sparkle, a small smile would cross her lips and you knew she had something up her sleeve!

She is survived by her loving husband Perry Anderson and her children Niki (Greg) Razo of Chugiak AK; Keenan (Barbara) Anderson of Fayettevile GA; Tana Jo (Randy Erickson) Anderson of Kodiak AK. Grandchildren Mollie Mathieu and Jack Razo; Max  and Eli Anderson; Tyrel and Calvin Hughes. The circle of life continued with the birth of her first Great-grand son John Perry Sylvester on August 12th, 2013. Sisters: Donna Krause of Hankinson ND; Phyllis Gentry of Cincinnati OH; Annette (Ron) Niner of Houston TX and Karolyn Ahrens of West Fargo ND. Brothers: Curt Ebel of Vancouver WA and Lance Ebel of Hankinson ND.  As one might expect coming from a large family she has nephews, nieces and cousins too numerous to name that will all miss her greatly; in addition to the many, many friends that she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles A and Erna E Ebel. Sisters; Elaine, Lorraine,  Charlotte and Lois.  Brothers; Vernon, Lynn, Dale and Keenan.

Committal of ashes will be in St John's Cemetery, Lidgerwood ND on Tuesday, August 27th, 2013 at 10:00am  A celebration of her life will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church 1706 Lee Blvd,  North Mankato MN at 3pm on Sunday September 1st, 2013.  Cards and condolences may be sent to the family at 126 Vaughn Road, Fayetteville GA 30214.
